FIT YOUR LIFE
Build around the life you actually want.
The best business isn't the one you can handle. It's the one that fits your life.
I spent twenty years in corporate IT before I started building work around my life instead of the other way around. This is a short look at four realistic paths, what each one requires, and what you don't have to build yourself. Read them in any order and take what fits.
At a glance
How much already exists?
Some paths hand you more of the machinery. Others hand you the keys and an empty room.
What this actually is
You make something and sell it directly: a guide, a template, a workshop, a service, yours start to finish.
What you bring
Knowledge or a skill people already ask you about, and the patience to build before it pays.
What you don't have to build
Nothing, which is the appeal and the price. The product, the audience, and the systems are all yours to create.
The tradeoff
The most control and the slowest start. The effort is front-loaded, and the early months can feel like you are talking to an empty room.
Who this tends to fit
The woman who wants the thing to be hers and can live with a runway.
If you want to go deeper
Clueless to Cashflow
Starting from zero? This is where I would send you first. The fundamentals of building your own online business, minus the internet-bro nonsense.
Take a lookWhat this actually is
You share what genuinely works for you, and when someone buys through your link, you earn a commission, with no product to invent and no boxes in your garage.
What you bring
Trust: people who believe you when you say something is worth it, and the discipline to only recommend what you would defend at brunch.
What you don't have to build
The product, the checkout, the delivery, the customer service. The company behind it handles all of that.
The tradeoff
Lower lift means lower control, and your income leans on someone else's product staying good and their program staying open.
Who this tends to fit
The woman who already tells her friends what to buy and would not mind that habit paying her back.
A small next step, if you want one
What I personally use
Curious what I use and recommend myself? I keep the list short on purpose.
See my short listWhat this actually is
Instead of inventing the product and the infrastructure, you represent something established. I do this myself, with a wellness technology company I vetted for two years before saying yes.
What you bring
Your relationships, your reputation, steady effort, and the willingness to learn a product well enough to stand behind it.
What you don't have to build
The products, the research, the fulfillment, and the business model already exist, so you plug into the machine rather than building it.
The tradeoff
You skip the blank page, but you inherit their rules and their reputation. Choose the company like it matters, because it does.
Who this tends to fit
The woman who wants a running start and would rather stand behind something proven than build alone.

The company I chose
This is the wellness company I partner with. Have a look, ask me anything, and take your time deciding.

What this actually is
Tightening what already exists: your offer, your content, and your understanding of your own numbers.
What you bring
A business or offer already out in the world, and the willingness to look at what is actually happening instead of what was supposed to happen.
What you don't have to build
New is exciting, but resist the urge, because fixed is what pays.
The tradeoff
Less shiny than starting over, and it asks you to admit some of what you built is not working. That stings, but it is also the fastest route back to your evenings.
Who this tends to fit
The woman whose business looks fine on paper and feels exhausting in practice.

One last thing
The right path is the one that still lets you recognize your own life, so start small, protect your mornings, and be suspicious of anyone selling you a 4 a.m. routine.
